How Precious I Am

I remember exactly how many stars
Were still floating in the sky that morning
And I could count how many moons ago
With every knick in my nails
I think it’s my favorite story
When I finally learned how precious I was
I was using the earth as my bed
And the morning dew as my therapy
It’s like the birds were singing in tongues
But ones that I could understand
The notes just danced around my heart
And I could feel the vibrations in every rung
Buzzing through this cage of ribs
I know they were singing to the earth
But I felt so apart of her that morning
Like I had just realized my roots
And I could see the deepest ones
Snaking around her molten core
Breathing like the fire in my belly
They were made of all my pain
They didn’t go there to die
But to be transformed
Weaving in wisdom
Patterns like sacred geometry
Every little path sipping on the most precious embers
Realizing it was giving new depths of life
To all my bliss
Blossoming atop the earth’s growth
Soil and flesh
Like candied Hawaiian sunsets
Me dancing on wet sand to this song in my head
Breathing in brilliant little ions of waterfalls
Learning about moments
Moments as teachers
Of what it means to live in them
It was just like the dance of my own hands
Caressing the same collection of elements
Protecting this miracle I reside within
Or when they settle into the webbings of perfect prayer
Prayers teaching my my highest path is the conduit
Always reaching to the heavens
Wherever I may be
I open my eyes
Waking in a smile that’s stolen the creases of my face
To see the sun smiling back
Reminding me in exemplary
How like her I am
Telling me of all the precious wars
Housed within the walls of her own skin
Even spinning and orbiting out of sync
Teaching me with every cycle
Like her
I’m gasping under endless waves
Waves of acceptance
Reaching so far above my head
But I don’t want to hold my breath
Knowing I have worked helplessly
And endlessly
I think I’ll lie weightless atop them instead
Floating on new languages
New layers
And new lenses
I’ll be able to create with
Finally knowing now
How Precious I am
