Can you appreciate these lips
For the way they gently melt the tension between your eyes
And curve into the biggest brightest smile you’ve ever seen
But also spew fire so passionate
That the words are covered in soot and ash
Born out of the tips of scorching purple flames
And burnt into embossed minds living between eager ears
Or my voice
For the soft moans that fall out of my mouth and into yours
Can you look at me with the same infatuated eyes
And admire the powerful space that voice creates
When it sings out sweet healings
Even when it’s been transformed into blotted ink
And held before the eyes of a million different tiny universes
Or my mind
For the way it provides a compass for your life and mine
Diligently building the most beautiful library in the rungs of every indent
Scaffolded with the most ancient elements
But constantly imprinted with new knowings
Can you still feel its brilliance
When it’s lying on the gentle rise and fall of your chest
And your hands are running through the knots in my hair
While shaking loose bits of earth
Or my body
For the way it houses the soul you so cherish
And the stage it provides for me to not only be a lover, teacher and healer
But for me to be loved, taught and healed
Can you still see its beauty
In all the times I let the harshest sides of my own tongue be the stage
Upon which I parade in search of gold plated acceptance
What I mean is
Can you appreciate my entirety
Are you mesmerized or overwhelmed
By the way I can take jewel tones and neutrals
Swish them around my tongue
And make the most masterful art
The type that makes you feel
Do you really see me
I am duality
Wrapped in sacred flesh
Soft yet strong
Powerful yet gentle
Complex yet simple
Wild yet tame
Intelligent yet inquisitive
Grounded yet transcendent
Everything you need
Yet I will teach you need nothing at all
Hold these all in the very same breath
I need to know
If you can feel the synergy
And taste the wholeness
And see the beauty
