The Story of Healing

Pull back, and above
Realize the amount of people
Housed in your heart center
You wonder how it ever got big enough
Strong enough
To hold it all
In a moment you are reminded
That every rip, tear and lost piece
Gave rise to its growth
Its strength
Its immense space
And even on the days you feel empty
And weak
And you wonder if you can remain standing tall
To hold space for all the people housed in your branches
Eyes close
With a cleansing breath
Fingers flow over every wooden ridge
Of the hallowed out oak towering above you
And you’re reminded there is immense strength
Even in the emptiness
Faith’s hymn echoes in the walls of your heart
Enough times for theirs to learn the words
Sing it back to me, love
They cozy home of a kind heart
You offer refuge to so many
Can you let yourself lay here too?
I know the waterfall tricked you
The ocean too
Into thinking there was more cleansing
More healing
Within its serene power
Than your tear soaked sleeves
They say the collision of those water molecules make you feel peace
But what peaceful concert of collisions
Happens within the walls of this skin to allow for the tangible release
Of things no longer serving you?
Trace a new path for every stream of salt water
To run down your neck
Let’s sit in the earth
And I’ll whisper to you
The story of healing
